10th May 2005 - In Search of More Honours
There was some GOOD and some BAD news from last weekend, and still lots to play for over the next few days..
PLEASE TRY TO GIVE THE PLAYERS AND THEIR MANAGERS THE SUPPORT THEY DESERVE FOR THEIR HARD WORK OVER THE SEASON
UNDER 17 BOYS
Our Under 17s failed to overcome Unicorn in their Final last Sunday. The score was 4 - 7. We would like to thank you for the terrific suppport you gave to the boys. A comment was made by the League Official that he had never seen an Under 17 Final so well supported. And for those of you who did come, you will have formed your own opinions about some of the officials decisions on the day. Let's give some credit to the squad for getting there....it WAS a fantastic Cup run with some great results along the way, and at least there was a trophy each in recognition of this tremendous achievement.
UNDER 13B BOYS
Some better news on Sunday was our Under 13sB squad CLINCHED THE LEAGUE TITLE by ONE POINT. Very well done to Ian Bown, his Management team and of course ALL the LADS in the squad.
SUNDAY 15th MAY and MONDAY 16th WILL BE THE CULMINATION OF OUR WINTER SEASON
All the following squads face tough opposition, so your support will definitely help.
UNDER 9A BOYS v DEANS SPORTS.
Cup Final, SUNDAY 15th MAY 10.00am at Trafford Football Club, Penny Bridge Lane (just off Flixton Road) Behind the "Bird in Hand Pub" and near to Urmston Swimming Baths. We would recommend that you keep off the Motorway because of the Road works. From Crossford Bridge, turn right into Dane Road and straight across at the Lights into Glebelands Rd. Go right to the end of Glebelands continuing into the very narrow Buck Lane (adjacent the Buck Inn) through to Carrington Lane. Turn right and pass the Mersey Farm Hotel and up to the Lights. Turn Left, passing Man City training ground and then right at the Lights. "Mile Road". Continue paat the Garden Centre and Flixton Railway station and after a further half mile come to the Lights where the 'Bird in Hand' Pub is immediately to your right. Turn immediately after the Pub into Penny Bridge Lane and after 150 yards the car park for the Trafford Football Club is on your left.
UNDER 10A BOYS v BROADHEATH HAWKS
Cup Final, SUNDAY 15th MAY 11.15am at Trafford Football Club. Directions as above.
UNDER 15A BOYS v FLETCHER MOSS RANGERS
Cup Final, SUNDAY 15th MAY 2pm at Flixton Football Club, Valley Road, Flixton. Directions:- From Crossford Bridge, turn right into Dane Road and straight across at the Lights into Glebelands Rd. Turn Left, passing Man City training ground and then right at the Lights. "Mile Road". Continue paat the Garden Centre and Flixton Railway station. Passing some playing fields on your right look out for Irlam Road on your left. Take Irlam Road and after a quarter of mile you come to a complicated little double pancake roundabout set up. Turn right here (going in front of the Pub). This is Woodsend Road. Continue to the large (Woodsend) Roundabout and take the second exit left, Woodbridge Road. Continue down Woodbridge Road and the Flixton F.C. Ground is at the end, on Valley Road.

FINAL LEAGUE GAME, MONDAY 16th MAY 6.30pm at Crossford Bridge Sports Ground
A League Title decider !!! The Girls need just one point from this game in order to clinch the South Manchester Girls Under 11 League title. A loss would hand the title to Unicorn.... Ouch !!! Tense stuff......this Beautiful Game !!
