Motherthon

We had 11 runners turn up for Saturday’s Motherthon, and guess what?…..they want more!..
Motherthon organiser and Club Development Officer Stewart Hamer said “Whilst only a small number of runners turned up, the spirit and atmosphere was good on a very cold, but dry, morning. On completion, most of the runners said they would be keen to do it again next Saturday.
The best way to get warm was to start the jog around the track and although some participants slowed down to walking pace at times everyone completed the mile with a smile.
Joanna Wormold, one of our Under 8 boys’ mothers had a fantastic idea. She said that she normally does her shopping at Asda on a Saturday morning. However, she decided to order her shopping on-line on Friday night freeing her up to complete the Motherthon on the Saturday morning.
Well done, Joanna, this could lead to a much healthier life-style. A great idea.
Joanna was one of three runners who said they had never run a mile in their life before and Julie Greer said she hadn’t run a mile since she had left school.
Angela Cullen, Sale United Girls’ Section Head Coach is in training for a ‘Run for Life’ event in aid of Cancer Research on 22nd May 2005. She was heartened by the support she received and even more so that many of them are “up for it” next week.
So if you are one of the Mothers who couldn’t make it last week then why not join Angela and the other Ladies next week for MOTHERTHON 2? Why not take up Joanna’s idea and do the shopping on-line on Friday evening.
Any questions about next Saturday’s event should be raised with Stewart Hamer on 0161 905 3099.
