What a game

Sale United U15 v Fletcher Moss
There was a real feeling of the underdogs for Sale in this game - Fletcher Moss were the League winners and had routed Sale 8-2 earlier in the season's league game. But Sale were inspired (good coaching??!!) everyone fought for every ball, every tackle (especially Anthony Norfolk with a crunching tackle in the first few minutes setting the tone) and in the heat of the afternoon the effort and commitment was fantastic.
Nil-nil at half time was a great position - although Sale had few efforts on goal they had contained Fletcher Moss and had a chance of victory. Second half started badly with a vicious, swerving shot not held by David - one nil to Fletcher from the re-bound.
Sale fought hard - but set-pieces were now the only route to goal. Every corner and free kick was attacked well by Sale. A looping shot made it 2-0 to Fletcher - but Sale did not let up, trying even harder. The reward came with 15 minutes to go when James Russell flighted in a free kick from 20 yards.
In the last few minutes Sale tried desperately to raise their game - Chris Jones showing the commitment to the end with a crunching 50-50 tackle. In the end a glorious defeat - everyone played their part; everyone walked off the pitch with heads held high. A great result from a great game.
